Do You Minister in All Churches?

Even though Roy is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church we are not limited to that denomination.  We believe that the world is our parish.  Therefore, we have ministered in many different churches including:  United Methodist, Free Methodist, Christian & Missionary Alliance, Church of God, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Brethren, Assemblies of God, Nazarene, Presbyterian, as well as nondenominational churches.  We have also ministered in many settings outside the church, including:  Christian Schools, street fairs, parks, stadiums, high schools, a county fair, business parties, and prisons.

Though we do reserve the right to refuse any request it is our desire to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all, everywhere who will listen.

How Much Does It Cost?

Our desire is to serve any church or group without regard to their ability to pay so we do not have preset fees for this ministry.  We trust that your church or group will recognize our expenses and the value of this ministry to you and others and make your best effort to support this ministry.

The cost of maintaining this ministry averages as much as $1500/week or $500/day.

Roy and Janice’s salary and all other expenses are dependent on the giving of churches and individuals (the United Methodist Church provides only for hospitalization and pension).

Because many events do not meet all expenses and some events do not provide any financial payment, we depend upon churches and individuals who give mission support for about half our gross income.  See our Support page for info on how you can give to this ministry.

We ask you to prayerfully and conscientiously consider what your best means of supporting an event may be.  I addition, we ask you to consider supporting this ministry as a mission outreach by giving monthly, or annually, becoming a partner with us in spreading the Gospel.

Our standard financial request for an event is:

The church or group should pay all travel expenses to and from and during the event—airfare or mileage at IRS allowance (50.5 cents/mile in 2008).  We will provide a written expense report to the church.

The church or group should provide meals and housing during the event.

In addition to the above expenses, a love offering is to be received during each service—all of which is given to this ministry as honorarium (other musicians, worship leaders, promotional expenses, etc. should be paid for by the church, not from the offering).

Some churches or groups prefer to set an honorarium in advance of the event instead of receiving a love offering.  This should be done prayerfully with consideration given to our full expenses.

How Do I Plan An Event For My Church/Group?

First, consider this.  Ministry should never be just what we've always done. Change should never be just to try something different for the sake of being different. Ministry and Change should always be driven by Vision and Purpose.

STEPS FOR PLANNING A MINISTRY EVENT

Begin with PRAYER - pray before you begin planning and pray over everything.  If you learn how to listen to the voice of God you will already have succeeded.

Ask yourself 3 basic questions...

  1. WHO do YOU intend to REACH?

    • Christians or non-Christians

    • Age group

    • Needs to be ministered to...??

  2. HOW will YOU Reach OUT?

    • What kind of event?

    • What will you do?

    • What will Roy do

    • Music, worship, publicity...??

  3. WHAT will YOU do with those you REACH?

    • What do you hope for in this event?

    • What are your goals?

    • How will you follow up...??

Make your plans as you answer the above questions.

Be creative and intentional.  Look over this website, talk with Roy or Janice for ideas of what they can offer.  Prior to an event we will send you a planning packet to further help you in your preparation.

An event can be a focal point for ministry if you make it a key component of your ongoing work.

What Format Do Events Follow?

We do not follow a single format for events.  We work in consultation with you to be flexible and responsive to your needs so that an event can be planned to fit your situation.

Roy and Janice bring many diverse gifts to share.  Roy offers dynamic preaching and original dramatic portrayals.  Roy and Janice both offer teaching ministries and both lead worship music and solo performances.  Janice is also a talented pianist and can give choral direction.

Events may be scheduled for one day, a weekend, several week days, a full week or more.  Our most common scheduling patterns are Sunday—Wednesday or Friday—Sunday.

We have presented programs for Sunday services, traditional revival services, promise keepers events, summer camps, youth rallies, senior adult groups, campmeetings, evangelism conferences, retreats, church dinners, business dinners, street festivals, fairs, historical celebrations and reenactments, etc.

Does Roy Pastor A Church?

No.  Roy was a lay associate for four years while in college then upon graduation from seminary he pastored fulltime for seven years.  Then in 1996 he requested the change from pastor to fulltime evangelist.
