Giving to this Ministry

We want to ask you to consider some ways to give to this ministry.
  You need to know
that about half of our gross income is from individuals and churches that pray for us and send a gift
every month or every now and then.  The other half is largely from offerings.  Without your support
we could not stay in this fulltime ministry unless we charged significant fees for services as the cost
of maintaining this ministry averages as much as $1500/week or $500/day.  We seek to provide
ministry to churches and groups of all sizes without imposing fees on them.  Your giving allows us
to do ministry in summer camps, youth ministries, prisons, senior groups and other important
opportunities for ministry where there is little or no financial remuneration.

We have three ways of giving we would like you to consider for yourself, your church,
Sunday School Class or Mission Society.

First, we would like you to consider sending a Special Gift at this time.  Special gifts from you
may be small or large.  Special gifts supply a great part of our basic income needs.  Special gifts
also meet the need for projects like producing a video of a portrayal or a music CD or other
recording project.  All of these are projects waiting for funding.

Second, would you consider continuing your giving on a monthly basis.  We have churches and
individuals who are committed to us monthly - some for $5 and some for as much as $100 each
month.  Would you pray about becoming a Monthly Partner.  These gifts sustain us
throughout the year.

Third, you may consider becoming a Booster by committing to sending a gift in January and
June
.  These are always the lowest income months of the year.  They tend to swallow up any
surplus we may gain in the busier seasons.  You could give a boost to us by planning to send a
special gift those months.  If every month is not for you, this could be an alternative that would
be a great help to us.

We say as little about money as possible both in the newsletter and in churches where we are
ministering because we believe our time and energy should be spent doing ministry – not
fundraising.  Our aim is to approach you with respect and integrity by telling you our need and
asking your help.  Now we ask you to pray over it and do only what God leads you to.

Finally, some of you may still have questions about

how our ministry functions.  So, here are some

comments that answer some FAQ’s.

Roy Gearhart Cutting Edge Ministries is a nonprofit ministry under IRS code making gifts to
us tax deductible.

We follow strict standards of accountability in handling our finances.  We are given direction
and oversight by a Board of Directors made up of laypeople and clergy volunteers.  They set
salary, benefits, and budget for the ministry.

Roy does not pastor a church, evangelist is our fulltime occupation.

Roy is an ordained elder in the UM Church appointed as an evangelist.  He receives
hospitalization and pension through the UM Church, all other salary, housing, expenses, etc
must be met through you.

Roy’s salary and expense allowances are set by the Board of Directors following the
standards set forth for United Methodist pastors serving in the Western Pennsylvania
Conference.  His salary compares to the average salary of UM pastors serving in that
Conference.  Janice is employed part time as office manager for the ministry.  She also has
her expenses met as part of the ministry team.
